‘Bike & Hike’ Path Maintenance – Lairig an Laoigh
September 8 @ 08:30 - 16:00

Do you often approach hill paths on your bicycle? Bring your bike and join us on the day to help with maintenance of the Lairig an Laoigh path.
Location: Glenmore Lodge, Aviemore
Time: 08:30 am – 4 pm
Facilities: There are accessible toilets at Glenmore Lodge.
On the day
First, we will cycle to the site of the old Bynack Stable shelter (around 4 km), lock our bikes and then start walking from there.
On the footpath, we are going to clear drainage features, help to repair erosion damage and fix sections where it is needed to encourage users to stay on the original path line.
Requirements
Volunteers must have experience in off-road cycling and walking in the hills, have a good physical fitness and be capable of using tools.
No experience of path work is required. Tools and work gloves will be provided.
What to bring
Mountain bike in working condition, helmet, appropriate footwear and clothing suitable for cycling and walking.
Backpack with outside attachments/straps that will allow to carry a spade (can be also placed inside of the pack if suitable), and has space inside for your spare layers, waterproofs, cap or hat, insect repellent and sunscreen, and plenty of water and food for the day.
Spares specific to your own bike (e.g. inner tube or tubeless repair kit, chain link).
Bike lock.
Please note, that bikes, helmets, clothing and spares will be checked prior to the ride. If deemed as unsafe or unsuitable, you won’t be able to take part in the activity.
