‘Bike and Hike’ Path Maintenance – Slugain, near Braemar
May 25 @ 09:00 - 16:00

Do you often approach the hills on a mountain bike? Bring your bicycle and join us on the route to Ben Avon. We will cycle around 9 km and then continue on foot, focusing on drainage clearance as we walk the path.
Location: Keiloch car park, Invercauld Estate
Time: 9 am – 4 pm
Facilities: There are accessible toilets at the car park.
Requirements
Volunteers must have experience in off-road cycling and walking in the hills, and have a good physical fitness.
No experience of path work is required. Tools and work gloves will be provided.
On the day
It’s about 9km to cycle to the start of the footpath. We will lock our bikes here and walk the rest of the route. On the path, we are going to clear drainage features, help to repair erosion damage and fix sections where it is needed to encourage users to use the original path line.
What to bring
Mountain bike in working condition, helmet, appropriate footwear and clothing suitable for cycling and walking.
Backpack with outside attachments/straps that will allow to carry small spade (can be also placed inside of the pack if suitable), and has space inside for your spare layers, waterproofs, cap or hat, insect repellent and sunscreen, and plenty of water and food for the day.
Spares specific to your own bike (e.g. inner tube or tubeless repair kit, chain link).
Bike lock.
Please note: Bikes and helmets will be checked prior to the ride; if deemed as unsafe or unsuitable, you won’t be able to take part in the activity.
