Path Maintenance – Mayar, Glen Clova
May 26, 2025 @ 09:30 - 16:00

The path to Mayar begins at the ranger station in the beautiful Glen Doll at the head of Glen Clova.
It proceeds through the Glen Doll forest until it reaches the magnificent Corrie Fee. The path then ascends the back wall of the corrie next to a waterfall before emerging onto the plateau where it becomes an easy walk to the summit.
Location: Glen Doll car park & Glen Doll Ranger Base, Glen Clova, Kirriemuir, Angus
Facilities: There are accessible toilets at Glen Doll Ranger Base.
Please note there is NO PHONE SIGNAL in Glen Clova and Glen Doll
On the day
Volunteers will help to repair erosion to the footpath, prevent further damage due to rainfall, and fix sections where it is needed to encourage users to use the original path line. The maintenance will be centered around what is known as a “drainage run”, walking the route and clearing drainage features as we go. Such a work is vitally important to ensure the built paths are kept in a good condition, protecting the surrounding landscape and maintaining the accessibility of the hills.
Requirements
No experience of path work is required. Tools, work gloves and safety glasses will be provided.
Volunteers must be used to spending time outdoors, have experience walking in the hills, have a good physical fitness and be capable of using tools. 14 to 18-year-olds are welcome to join in as long as they are accompanied by a responsible adult.
What to bring
Appropriate footwear (preferably waterproof boots with firm ankle support), suitable clothing for a full day in the hills (including waterproofs, cap or hat and spare warm layer to be prepared for changing weather conditions), insect repellent and sunscreen, and plenty of water and food for the day.
