SUMMARY:Path Maintenance - 2-day Event in Glen Clova
DESCRIPTION:Join us for two days of path maintenance in the beautiful Glen Clova.\nThis is an overnight trip\, accommodation and evening meal on Monday night will be provided. \nLocation: Glen Clova\, Kirriemuir\, Angus \nTime: 9:30 am – 4 pm \nAccommodation: Braedownie Hut (500m from the Glen Doll car park)\nThe Hut has electricity\, bunk beds with mattresses\, fully equipped kitchen\, toilets and showers\, drying room and a wood burner.\nOvernight parking will be available at the hut. \nFacilities: There are accessible toilets at the Glen Doll car park and at the Hut. \nPlease note that phone signal in Glen Clova is very limited. \nOn each day of the trip\nVolunteers will help to repair erosion to the footpath\, prevent further damage due to rainfall\, and fix sections where it is needed to encourage users to use the original path line. The maintenance will be centered around what is known as a “drainage run”\, walking the route and clearing drainage features as we go. Such a work is vitally important to ensure the built paths are kept in a good condition\, protecting the surrounding landscape and maintaining the accessibility of the hills. \nRequirements\nNo experience of path work is required. Tools\, work gloves and safety glasses will be provided.\nVolunteers must be used to spending time outdoors\, have experience walking in the hills\, have a good physical fitness and be capable of using tools. \nWhat to bring\nAppropriate footwear (preferably waterproof boots with firm ankle support)\, suitable clothing for a full day in the hills (including waterproofs\, cap or hat and spare warm layer to be prepared for changing weather conditions)\, insect repellent and sunscreen.\nFor the Hut\nChange of clothes and clean trainers to wear indoors.\nSleeping bag and pillow.\nTowel and toiletries.\nFood/Drink:\nBring enough food and water for each day on the hill\, and for a breakfast on Tuesday morning.\nMonday evening meal will be provided by OATS as well as coffee and tea. \nDetailed list of things to bring will be sent in the week prior to the event. \n  \nIf you have any queries please contact Eva\, our Outdoor Access Volunteer Coordinator at eva.kupska@outdooraccesstrustforscotland.org.uk
