SUMMARY:Path Maintenance - 2 Day Event at Stac Pollaidh\, Ullapool
DESCRIPTION:Join us for two days of path maintenance on the popular footpath up Stac Pollaidh mountain in the stunning area of Northwest Highlands.\nPlease note this is an overnight trip\, accommodation and evening meal on Monday night will be provided. \nLocation: Stac Pollaidh\, Northwest Highlands \nAccommodation: Ullapool Hostel (15 miles away from Stac Pollaidh)\nSleeping arrangements – shared 6 bedded room\nPlease follow this link to find out more about the hostel’s facilities: Ullapool  \nOn each day of the trip\nVolunteers will help to repair erosion to the footpath\, prevent further damage due to rainfall\, and fix sections where it is needed to encourage users to use the original path line.\nWe will arrange meeting at the Ullapool hostel on Monday morning first\, and then travel together in one or two vehicles to the work site. \nRequirements\nNo experience of path work is required. Tools and work gloves will be provided.\nVolunteers must be used to spending time outdoors\, have experience walking in the hills\, have a good physical fitness and be capable of using tools. \nWhat to bring\nAppropriate footwear (preferably waterproof boots with firm ankle support)\, suitable clothing for a full day in the hills (including waterproofs\, cap or hat and spare warm layer to be prepared for changing weather conditions)\, insect repellent and sunscreen.\nChange of clothes and clean indoor shoes to wear inside the hostel.\nFood/Drink:\nBring enough food and water for each day on the hill\, and for a breakfast on Tuesday morning.\nMonday evening meal and coffee/tea will be provided. \nDetailed list of things to bring will be sent in the week prior to the event. \nIf you have any queries please contact Eva\, our Outdoor Access Volunteer Coordinator at eva.kupska@outdooraccesstrustforscotland.org.uk

The maintenance will be centered around what is known as a “drainage run”\, walking the route and clearing drainage features as we go. Such a work is vitally important to ensure the built paths are kept in a good condition\, protecting the surrounding landscape and maintaining the accessibility of the hills. \nRequirements\nNo experience of path work is required.
